Meet Keaton Ashton, Winner of the 2021 Kids’ Baking Championship
Speaking with the Food Network, Keaton Ashton shared that he did not enter the competition thinking he would win the entire show. “My only goal was to get through the first two challenges,” Keaton told the Food Network. However, pastry prodigy Keaton has been crowned the winner of the 2021 Kids Baking Championship. The show ran for 10 weeks and ambitious young bakers competed for the $25,000 grand prize and the chance to be featured on Food Network magazine.
Keaton competed against Haylin Adams of Glasgow, Kentucky, Jonah Anderson of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Prospect Park, Pennsylvania native Cydney Cain, Andrew Clark of Madison, Mississippi, Trey Gordon of Davenport, Iowa, Beall Luu of San Jose, California, D ‘ Von Mills from Lithonia, Georgia, Namiah Phillips from Long Beach, California, Miabella Ramirez from Katy, Texas, McKenzly Sandefer from Conway, Arizona, and Nemo Tsai from Ann Harbor, Michigan.
In the final, Keaton went head to head with Bella Luu and Konah Anderson. The show was filmed in the summer of 2020 in Southern California. The last three weeks of the competition proved very competitive and she ended up winning the entire show with three Biome-inspired cakes.
Judges Duff Goldman and Valerie Bertinelli chose Keaton as the winner of the show for the creativity and consistency that he exuded.
With the huge prize money of $25,000, Keaton shared that he wanted to buy a new fish tank and save the rest to help finance college. She also received a set of Food Network brand bakeware and one of his original cakes featured at Bakery Charm City Cakes.

Keaton Ashton was born to his mother Michelle Ashton (@michelle.ashton).
Keaton’s mother, Michelle Ashton, was with him in Los Angeles watching him whip up recipes while his father Joel and three older sisters were at home cheering him on.
“After the first few bakes, I honestly thought she was doing pretty well because she was handling the pressure well,” Michelle told the East Idaho News. “He was managing his time well and that’s a big key to doing that program because everything is so timed. If you run out of time, your cakes are not going to be good.”
Although Michelle doesn’t bake, she took her son to the cake class on his 11th birthday, which inspired him to take up baking as a hobby.
Adding more about the experience, Michelle revealed: “Overall this was a great, cool experience that we will never be able to repeat. It’s been intense, but it’s been a lot of fun watching them edit the show and put it all together. I love that Keaton was portrayed as a good guy. I feel like they showed their true colors.”
Michelle attended Madison Senior High School and went to Ricks College, ISU, and BYU-Idaho for a college education.

Keaton’s father, Joel Ashton, is a fourth-generation potato farmer from Rexburg, Idaho. But he appears to be from Othello, Washington. He married his wife Michelle on August 6, 1998.
Additionally, Joel shared with Idahopotato.com that he is proud to become a farmer. His family grew high-quality food to feed America and provide the local community with employment opportunities during the summer and fall.
